Welcome to Coral Gables Chapter, NSDAR

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), is a nonprofit, non-political women’s service organization founded in 1890 and based in Washington, D.C. Its mission centers on three pillars: promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and supporting the education of future generations.

Fourteen ladies came together to establish our Coral Gables Chapter, NSDAR, on October 20, 1928. Over the years, our Coral Gables Chapter, NSDAR, has grown to 135 members and provides our members the opportunity to honor and preserve the legacy of patriot ancestors while contributing to important service projects.

It is an opportunity to make life-long friends, gain leadership experience, and to be involved in meaningful programs that provide something for everyone.  We meet monthly from October to May, on the second Tuesday of each month. Our meetings consist of pre-meeting socializing, the business meeting and then an interesting and information presentation.

Membership in the DAR is open to women who can document direct, bloodline descent from a Patriot who supported the American cause during the Revolutionary War. Eligible ancestors include individuals who fought in the conflict, provided supplies, offered civil or military assistance, or otherwise contributed to American independence. Today, the DAR includes more than 190,000 members across roughly 3,000 chapters in the United States and abroad.

DAR members collectively volunteer over four million hours each year, contributing to projects in historic preservation, education, and patriotic service. Their work spans support for veterans and active-duty military personnel, literacy initiatives, scholarships, conservation efforts, historical research, library services, and community outreach. Members represent a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and cultures, united by a shared dedication to service, heritage, and country.
